Description
This is known as an Active Docking Bullet or Reverse Docking Bullet. “Reverse” because it represents a reversal of the standard simple docking bullet + go-devil lock latch scheme. The simple docking bullet is now an active device with controllable latch and the go-devil lock latch becomes a simple latching ring. The key benefit of this arrangement is that it eliminates the need of a separate hydraulic hose to be suspended from the A-frame to the go-devil lock latch. This result in an overall neater and safer arrangement.
The Active Docking Bullet requires one hydraulic On/Off valve function from the ROV. It is a fail safe design, meaning docking active can be achieved even if this hydraulics function malfunctioned.
Single spring return docking cylinder is used. When energised , the cylinder positions the latches for unlatching to take place. Being a spring return cylinder, docking function remain unaffected even if hydraulic function from ROV is lost.
